Two unexpected facts that come from this data:
1. Tredegar did make railroad rail -- 617 lengths (21' each)
manufactured in late 1860 or early 1861 and billed in 1862. While not a lot, it is enough for 1.75 miles, both
rails. 2. The locomotive R. G. Fain was completed in 1860 for the
Rogersville & Jefferson RR. That road could not pay
for the locomotive, which was sold to the East Tennessee &
Georgia RR after the former road was captured by the Union Army. |
