New Orleans & Ohio |
|
Despite the grand name, the road only connected Paducah, Kentucky with Union City, Tennessee. The rest of the trip to New Orleans was on other railroads. The road was chartered in 1852 and construction started in December, 1853. After a long delay after completing the first section, the junction with the Mobile & Ohio RR was made on April 11, 1861. It is possible that the road was only completed in January or February of 1862. | |
