Jefferson & Lake Pontchartrain

The road was chartered in 1840 and started operations in 1853. During its Confederate days, it was part of a line of communication (with steamboats) to Mobile. With the other New Orleans short roads, it was captured by the Federals when New Orleans fell in April 1862. The road went out of business and took up its track in December 1864.
