& Potomac Railroad Company to Capt. Jno. M. Robinson to Transfer Bonds
with Bonds enclosed.

Know all men by these presents
that the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Rail Road Company have
constituted and appointed and by these presents do constitute and
appoint John M. Robinson of the State of Virginia, their true and
lawful attorney for them and in their names to sell, assign and
transfer unto any person or persons whomsoever Forty Thousand
dollars of Public debt of the Confederate States of America,
standing in the names of the said Richmond, Fredericksburg and
Potomac Railroad Company in the Treasury Department of the said
Confederate States of America, as per the following Certificates to
wit: |
Certificate number 363, dated
Richmond January 1st, 1862, for Four thousand dollars, issued under
the Act of Congress approved May 16, 1861, bearing an interest of
Eight per centum per annum payable semi annually on the first days
of January and July in each year; redeemable after ten years from
the date of said Certificate of debt, interest to be computed from
the 10th day of March 1862; |
Certificate number 364, dated July
1st, 1862, for Eight thousand dollars, issued under the Act of
Congress approved May 16, 1861, bearing an interest of Eight per
centum per annum payable semi annually on the first days of January
and July in each year; redeemable after ten years from the date of
said Certificate of debt, interest to be computed from the 1st day
of January 1862; |
Certificate number 365, dated
January 1, 1862, for Fifteen thousand dollars, issued under the Act
of Congress approved May 16, 1861, bearing an interest of Eight per
centum per annum payable semi annually on the first days of January
and July in each year; redeemable after ten years from the date of
said Certificate of debt. Interest to be computed from the 25th day
of January 1862; |
Certificate number 366, dated
January 1, 1862, for Six thousand five hundred dollars, issued under
the Act of Congress approved May 16, 1861, bearing an interest of
Eight per centum per annum payable semi annually on the first days
of January and July in each year; redeemable after ten years from
the date of said Certificate of debt, interest to be computed from
the 8th day of January 1862; |
Certificate number 89, dated
October 29, 1862, for Five thousand dollars, issued under the Act of
Congress approved August 19, 1861, bearing an interest of Eight per
centum per annum payable semi annually on the first days of January
and July in each year; redeemable on the first day of January 1879.
Interest to be computed from 29 October 1862; |
Certificate number 90, dated
October 29, 1862, for Five thousand dollars, issued under the Act of
Congress approved August 19, 1861, bearing an interest of Eight per
centum per annum payable semi annually on the first days of January
and July in each year; redeemable on the first day of January 1879,
interest to be computed from the 29th October 1862; |
Certificate number 91, dated
October 29, 1862, for Five thousand dollars, issued under the Act of
Congress approved August 19, 1861, bearing an interest of Eight per
centum per annum payable semi annually on the first days of January
and July in each year; redeemable on the first day of January 1879,
interest to be computed from the 29th October 1862; |
Certificate number 92, dated
October 29, 1862, for Five thousand dollars, issued under the Act of
Congress approved August 19, 1861, bearing an interest of Eight per
centum per annum payable semi annually on the first days of January
and July in each year; redeemable on the first day of January 1879,
interest to be computed from the 29th October 1862.On all which said
several Certificates of debt, interest has been received up to the
first day of January 1863, inclusive. |
With power also to the said
Attorney, a substitute or substitutes under him to appoint for the
purpose aforesaid, and generally to do or cause to be done all
things useful and proper in and about effecting the pressieses{?};

ratifying and confirming all that the said Attorney, his substitute
or substitutes may lawfully do therein by notice of these presents. |
In witness whereof the said
Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad Company have herewith affixed
their corporate seal, attested by the signatures of their President
and Treasurer, on this Twenty sixth day of February in the year
1863. |
