The above account is correct |
H D Whitcomb |
Genl Supt {Virginia Central RR} |
{Hanover Junction was where the Richmond,
Fredericksburg & Potomac RR and the Virginia Central RR crossed north of
Richmond. Brooks was a station ten miles north of Fredericksburg and was
the station that would have been used to support the troops and guns
blockading Washington DC on the Potomac River. The above shows shipments
of 16,921 Barrels of Flour, 1,521,774 pounds of Corn (probably for
horses), 696,839 pounds of Corn Meal, and 360,714 pounds of Coffee over
a 3 1/3 month period. This appears to be a bill from the RF&P to the VC
for the use of VC rolling stock; additional shipments were probably made
over the same track by the RF&P rolling stock. I believe the bill is
stated backward and should be for shipments from Junction to
Fredericksburg.} |
