Sir, |
My business for the last ten
years has been building Rail Roads, at this time I have a force of two
hundred & sixty hands at work a part of the force is on the
Milledgeville Rail Road near Warrenton and a part of my force at work
on the Atlantic & Gulf Rail Road near Thomasville. My family
resides in this County but I am in the County only about one fourth
of my time. My Rail Road business requiring the balance of my time
to provision my hands and manage the business &c. |
My object in addressing you is
to request you to relieve me from militia mustering as it is
impossible for me to attend to the duties of the same and although the
Captain of the Militia Company in my neighborhood would be pleased to
relieve me he says he has not the authority to do it and I am at times
much annoyed to attend Courts of Inquiry &c. the early attention
of Your Excellency will confer a favor. this will be handed you by Mer
Wm H Felton the member from this County who knows my situation well
and can testify to my statements above |
Very Respectfully Yours |
