| Dear Sir, |
| I am under the orders of the
Confederate Government engaged in running the trains of this company
between Augusta Ga and Wilmington & Charlotte N. C. |
| The enrolling officers of he
State of Ga have enrolld me and have put us to inconvenience regarding
our operatives. We have barely left enough men to keep our cars &
engines in order and run the trains and in as much as we are doing
perhaps about as good service as most men in the field I do think we
ought not be subject to annoyance. You have the power to save us from
further molestation by a general order and you will greatly oblige me
by adopting some plan that will leave us untrammeled. |
