Dear Sir, |
I have yours of the 23d. I
enclose a copy of letter to Mr. Andrews -- two sides to every
question. I am sorry I stole the 4 cars Coal. It was the nicest
coal I most ever saw. Make such an arrangement in reference to the
coal road {probably the Montevallo Coal RR} as you may deem best for this Co. If I can get off, will try
and meet you there Saturday morning early. I am sorry you can get no
money. I shall need next week about $15000 to pay up workmen &c.
Where is it to come from? Squeeze Col. Hunt & squeeze
Maj. ??? You probably can get some from one of them. We recd. 10 cars
coal from Coal road today I enclose memo. of coal road, which will be
accounted for in yours settlement with Govt. Say to Col Hunt that our
small rolls would do him no good without the housing & roughing
rolls and these we cannot spare as we use them in making sizes over
1/2 round & square. We would have to get up a set of pounding for
a little milk, if he got our small rolls. He would also have to make
the roughing rolls, & it would be much better to have the set to
fit. I enclose memo of Iron left at Columbiana belonging to the RRd {probably
the Alabama & Tennessee River RR}.
We have a lot of ties ready for shipment for both RRds {probably
the Alabama & Tennessee River RR and
the Alabama & Mississippi Rivers RR}. |
Yours truly |
