My Dear Sir, |
I fell it my duty under the circumstances,
to make mention to you of Dr A. C. Martin who has made an examination
of the Southern Pacific Railroad and whose report you will soon
receive. Dr. Martin is qualified for the post to which he has been
assigned. He was for many years a civil engineer in Virginia and I
fell no hesitancy in stating to you as a friend, that he is infinitely
better qualified for the service to which he has been appointed, than
any engineer appointed by the State who has ever inspected the
Southern Pacific Railroad. He is in addition to this a gentleman of
the highest qualities and his opinions both for integrity and
intelligence is entitled to the highest credit. |
