The Contract for the Extension of the Road from Alleyton to La Grange 28 miles was suspended February 1/62 owing to the interruption of business by the war and the consequent difficulty in collecting subscriptions due for carrying on the work; a five mile section continuous for Alleyton is graded and ready for the chairs & iron & also 15 miles beyond are partially graded. The work performed on the La Grange Ext. & ??? used amounts to $77386.56

Answer There has been none made since report of last year.

Answer An Engine house of Wood at Harrisburg also used as a Machine Shop, One Blacksmith Shop & One Carpenter's Shop and an engine house of wood at Alleyton. Six Locomotives (five serviceable) One stationary engine Three 1st Class Passenger Cars and Three 2nd Class Baggage and Mail Cars, Fifty long Platform Cars, Eighteen Box Cars & six unfinished Box Cars, Ten Hand Cars and Four Rubble Cars
Ques. #9 The number of men employed & their occupations
Answer The officers are the President, Treasurer, Superintendent, Roadmaster, Master Mechanic and Chief Clerk. There are six Station Agents also One Train Conductor, One Engine Driver, One Fireman, One Baggage Man and Two Brakemen, also Two Machinists, One Blacksmith, One Carpenter and Three Helpers employed at shop. There are Eight Section Foremen with Thirty-two track hands employed in repairs of Road & Bridges, also One Bridge Tender at Richmond, there are Six Pumpers Two Watchmen at Harrisburg (One at Shop and One at Freight House) One Assistant at Alleyton Warehouse and the Track Hands are also employed in handling freight as their services are required.
Ques. #11 The number of persons injured in life or limb and the cause of such injuries
Answer There has been only one person injured during the year. August 26/61 W. A. Cox Fireman in attempting to get upon the Engine when in motion, the weather being wet and ground muddy, slipped from the step and fell under the wheels of the first car injuring his right arm so that amputation was necessary.
Ques. #12 Whether any accidents have arisen from carelessness or negligence of any person in the employment of the Corporation and whether such person is retained in the service of the Corporation.
Answer The foregoing accident was apparently unavoidable and is to be attributed to the carelessness of no one but the injured person himself, to whom the Company have donated $250 he releasing them from any liability, and he is also retained in the service of the Company as a Watchman at the Frt. House (reported in Answer #10)
Ques. #13 The sales of land donated by the state and the quantity remaining unsold.
Answer The only sale during the year has been to the Contractors on the La Grange Extension, which was 25 sections 1st class, 640 acres each  6000 acres 50 cs   $8000 and the quantity remaining unsold is 25 sections 2nd class of 640 acres each  16000 acres, in addition to that reported June 1, 1861.
