Sir, |
The object of this is to impress the
information of ??ding to each and every requisition from the Military
Authorities in the movements of your trains and the Collection of the
same at Memphis subject to their orders (all the rolling stock on the
Road) except such as in and permitted to run over the Road, and when
you get an order to have it all ??? loose no time in doing so. Maj.
Anderson informed me on yesterday that our Cars would be needed to go
to Hernando but would be returned. I hope that you sent him as many as
he needed from our Road ??? also station that it was possible all of
our stock would be needed on our Road to transport the Fort Pillow
troops in that week you will be requested to have all the stock for
this emergency in any case I wish you to obey to the Letter all
instructions you may receive from the Military this I wish you to do
particularly in my absence from this city as I am determined to do all
that I can in complying with their orders and I wish you to carry out
my wishes I having confidence that you will respond to all that is
necessary and I only write to day again to impress this importance
upon you as I am necessarily absent from the city and cannot get back
before Monday. You had better immediately order your Material Train in
to town and indeed everything else on the Road, except such trains as
you are permitted to run to ??? or as soon as there is a prospect of
your getting orders to send them away, as soon as there is danger they
will of course let you know and give you orders accordingly when you
must not fail to do as you may be directed let me hear from you &
send Mr Popen. Be sure to write promptly. |
Very Respectfully
