Please authorize the rates of transportation
heretofore paid this road to be continued until further orders. Do
see Hon Sec of War and let him know that we cannot run the branch to
Tarboro this winter bringing out the great quantity of grain &
meat from there unless we have the aid of another suitable engine
the small one on the Clarksville {Roanoke
Valley RR} road is just the size {i.e.
15 tons} we need and I can get a set of tires for here now.
Let us have her & if we have to abandon the line all our
machinery can go to the Piedmont Road until that happens that road
is not of vital importance. Reply early |
