Sir, |
The order of Genl. Johnston to Maj.
Stevenson, Asst. Quartermaster, to provide transportation for Five
Thousand Troops, from Paris Ten to Clarksville Ten on Monday next, has
been submitted to me for execution. |
The Memphis, Clarksville & Louisville
Rail Road has agreed to furnish 40 Box and 15 Flat Cars, with four
Engines, to be at Paris Monday morning. The Memphis & Ohio RR will
furnish 30 cars and four or five Locomotives. |
The Louisville & Nashville Rail Road
can supply Fifty cars, but nearly every Engine belonging to that Road,
save those required to run the regular Trains, is now undergoing
Repair. The Nashville & Ky Road will have some half dozen cars at
the Tennessee River Bridge Sunday Evening, which ca be used in
transporting the troops. You can control the action of the L&N RR
at Bowling Green Ky, and order from there, such number of cars as Genl.
Johnston may be willing to take off of the Road. Having taken the
steps herein indicated, I await further orders. |
