Colonel Hurt is absent. Many ordnance
stores are here and many caissons, etc. On the 12th you ordered him
to send them off as fast as possible. I can not get transportation
for them unless you will give special orders to Mississippi and
Tennessee Railroad to place a train at my disposal daily till I get
all away. Shot and shell and other things are being manufactured
here, and they must be sent off too, but the same difficulty exists.
Will you please give the order and let me know ?

Colonel Jordan will please see Major
Hurt about the requisition for a train for ordnance stores contained
in the P.S. to this rather long dissertation.
