Eighteen hundred men of Lee's corps are looked
for to-day. Have been delayed three days at Mayfield waiting for
transportation {on the tracks of the
Milledgeville RR, then the Georgia RR, but the rolling stock would
probably be from the Georgia RR}. There is the greatest
inefficiency or basest treachery in our railroad department. General
Beauregard orders me to send you 3,000 men upon your requisition, if
there be no advance upon Augusta.
