| The enemy is advancing on
the railroads, probably toward Salem
{Virginia & Tennessee RR}. Move
your regiment to New River
Bridge
at once. Impress any trains you require at Saltville {on
a branch of the Virginia & Tennessee RR, but there were trains
present from many railroads present to ship salt}, whether
loaded with salt or not. The utmost dispatch required.
