The lieutenant-general
commanding directs that you order the Fifteenth and Twenty-sixth
Mississippi Regiments and one battery Point Coupée artillery, now
near Jackson, to move at once by the Southern Railroad to Morton,
the station this side of Forrest, under command of the senior
officer in the regiments. He will move his force on to Forrest or Lake, or to such point as circumstances or the position of the enemy may
make necessary. They have certainly been at Lake
Station. |
