Lieut. Gen. James Longstreet |
|
General,
|
It will not be possible to furnish
transportation from Franklin {on the Seaboard
& Roanoke RR} for any of your command. March to Ivor
Depot {on the Norfolk & Petersburg RR},
where the railroad, with such limited transportation as can be
commanded, will be placed at your disposal. Capt. E. B. Branch,
assistant quartermaster at Petersburg, has been telegraphed to
inform you at Franklin of this arrangement. Please inform Captain
Branch, assistant quartermaster at Petersburg, at the earliest
moment you may want the cars.
