| Thirty cars with their engines have left
here for Chattanooga {on the East Tennessee
& Georgia RR}; also 3 extra engines, to bring up 25 cars
reported ready by Captain Banks. This rolling stock is sufficient to
transport the 2,000 men you are ordered to send up {that
is 40 men per car, if all cars are used for personnel}, to
the embarkation of which you will give your personal attention, and
see that they leave at 8 o'clock to-morrow morning or sooner. These
re-enforcements will have barely time to reach here. |
