Organization of the Shelby & Broad
River Railroad Company |
A meeting of the subscribers
to the capital stock of this enterprise was held, agreeable to public
announcement, at the works of the Magnetic Iron Company, at Cherokee
Ford, Union District, S. C., on the 29th April, 1863. |
The Commissioners from North
and South Carolina reported the amount of subscriptions received up to
that date, which being more than sufficient for the organization of
the Company, as required by the charter of the two States, an election
for Directors to serve for the ensuing year was held, with the
following result: |
President |
B. D. Hassel |
Directors |
G. S. Camaron, A. M. Lathain, T. D. Wagner, A.
R. Homesly, D. Froneberger, W. J. T. Miler |
|
A report of the surveys as far
as they had been made was read, which promises a very satisfactory
route at a moderate cost. |
The location will soon be
completed, when the Company will be prepared to receive proposals for
contractors to execute the graduation, masonry and bridging. |
