North Carolina Iron |
The Fayetteville (N. C.) Observer
has seen the first consignment of a lot of pig iron from that
amazingly rich property, Ore Hill, on Deep River, in Chatham county.
It came down the {Western} railroad on
Monday, 1,600 pounds for one of the foundries in Wilmington. The
property is owned and worked by a Chatham company, for which Hugh W.
Dixon is agent, and Col. Barrington superintendent. Mr. Dixon writes
that they are now making fifteen tons per week, and will be able to
make more than double that quantity, and improve the quality, in a few
weeks after getting in their "hot blast." |
