| Go and Do Likewise |
| Our attention has been called,
by one who knows, to the great kindness and liberality of the ladies in
the vicinity of Whitaker's Turnout on the Wilmington & Weldon Railroad.
They have been all along supplying the soldiers abundantly with
necessaries and delicacies, so much needed and so much appreciated by
the weary or wounded soldier. They have gives with no niggard hand, and
what they have given has been of the best and cooked in the best manner.
In addition to which they have brought fresh fruits and vegetables. All
honor to the good people at Whitaker's turnout, and especially the
ladies. |
| We learn that
refreshments were also provided yesterday for the sick soldiers at
Magnolia, and we trust that these good examples will be followed at
other points. Something cooling -- something refreshing is needed by the
sick or wounded soldier and is due to him. |
