Serious Collision on the Central Rail Road |
A collision occurred on the
North Carolina Rail Road on Tuesday last, between a freight and mail
train. Both the Engines were totally destroyed, and several of the cars
badly damaged. Three passengers were also badly crippled, two having
their legs broken. One gentleman had to submit to the amputation of a
leg. Another was expected to have to go through the same operation.
Others were more of less injured. The collision happened about 11
miles East of Charlotte. The cars were detained for several hours. |
