being of the date of Thursday, the 1st instant, ***** The following from
the Chronicle and Sentinel: |
| The Georgia Road |
| Trains run up the Georgia road
as far as Greensboro'. {83 miles west of Augusta
and 88 miles east of Atlanta} |
| The work of repairing the road
to Atlanta will be commenced as soon as practicable. |

| Pouring In |
| The train on the Georgia Road
last night brought down a large number of men from the interior
counties, who are responding to the Governor's proclamation. |
| Several train loads of
veterans arrived by the South Carolina Road yesterday evening, and more
are expected today. |
