From Up the Road |
We learn (says the Augusta
Chronicle & Sentinel) from gentlemen up the road that the people are
returning to their old homes. |
The Georgia Railroad track,
has not been as badly damaged in some sections as at first reported. The
road from Stone mountain to Lithonia is in good running order, with the
exception of about one mile, which General Slocum's corps destroyed
after leaving the main army, in their route for the east side of Yellow
river. From Lithonia to Alcova bridge the road is completely destroyed.
From the Alcova down to Oconee it is only tapped occasionally, and can
be easily repaired. |
