In alluding to the large receipts of this
Road yesterday, we should have remarked in connection therewith that
the sum $1,400,000 has been obtained by hard work rather than by high
rates, it being well known that the charges on freight are from 33 to
25 per cent. less than they are on most other roads in the State.
Passenger rates are less also. The enemy by their raids, has
interrupted the business of the Road materially. |
