Fatal Accident |
We learn that about 5 o'clock
on Wednesday, the 27th instant, while the mail train on the Wilmington
& Manchester Railroad going west was running between Maysville and
Sumter, S. C., Mr. Williford Nichols, residing at Cartersville, S. C.,
in attempting to pass from one car to another, somehow fell between
and was instantly killed, the wheels cutting off his legs. He was
otherwise fearfully mangled. Mr. Nichols was a native of North
Carolina, and might have been some thirty to thirty-five years of age.
He leaves a wife and family. He was a sober, steady, industrious man. |
