Shelby & Broad River Railroad |
A charter was granted by the
last Legislature of North Carolina for a Railroad to run from Shelby,
N. C., to some point in South Carolina. A meeting of the stockholders
was held at the Magnetic Iron Works, S. C., on the 29th ult., and
organized the company by electing the following Board of Directors: A.
R. Homesly, W. J. T. Miller, D. Fronebarger, G. S. Cameron, A. M.
Latham, T. D. Wagner, B. D. Hasell. At a meeting of the Directors,
Major Bentley D. Hasell was unanimously elected President. |
The Shelby Eagle says:
"The location will soon be completed, when the company will be
prepared to let contracts, with the view of pushing the work to an
early completion." |
