| On the 2d inst., as the train
bound West passed under the railroad bridge over Deep river, near
Jamestown Station {North Carolina RR}, a
man named R. Chatham, a paroled prisoner, on his way home, was struck by
the bridge and so injured that he died in 15 hours afterwards. He lived
till yesterday morning. Nothing of any value was found on his person, no
papers to show where he was going. He had transportation to Statesville,
and belonged to Co. B, 1st N. C. T. I had him decently buried here. If
you know his people, please let them know where his body can be had. |
| Respectfully, &c, |
