The Pearl River {at
Jackson, Miss.} is reported to be higher
than it has ever known before. The Trestle work on the Southern {(of
Mississippi)} Rail road Bridge was moved
from its foundation by the late freshet, and for a time fears were
entertained that it would float off. Steps were, however, immediately
taken to make it secure and we believe there is now no further danger. |
