Railroad Accident
On last Friday night, as the express train was coming up between West's station and Vaden, on the Mississippi Central railroad, the locomotive (W. F. Mason) ran into a "break" made by the trestle work having been washed away by the recent heavy rains. The baggage car plunged in after the engine, and piled up in such a manner as to impede the headway of the passenger cars. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt, but the "iron horse" was put hors de combat -- rather badly smashed into "smithereens," as Paddy has it. As usual, in such cases, no one was to blame.
