Aid for the Memphis & Little Rock Railroad |
The Memphis Enquirer states that the
Senate of Arkansas has passed a bill authorizing a loan of $100,000 to
the Memphis & Little Rock Railroad Co., to aid them in completing their
road. This sum is appropriated out of the fund donated by Congress to
aid improvements in the state and to be secured by the bonds of the
company, payable to the state of Arkansas twenty years after date, with
six per cent. interest, and also by a mortgage upon the road. There is
little doubt that the road will now be speedily finished and opened for
travel through to Little Rock. |
