Serious Accident |
On Wednesday morning last, an
accident occurred on the branch rail road from Athens to Union Point {a
station on the Georgia RR}, by which Mr. Rice, a fireman on the
road, had his thigh very seriously crushed. The engine ran over a cow,
throwing it, the tender, and other cars off the track, and catching
Mr. Rice between the engine and tender. From not having sufficient
assistance on the train, it was a considerable time before he could be
extricated. We are glad to hear that he is in a fair way to recover,
however, although suffering still very acutely. |
