Change of Schedule |
We have heard a rumor that the
schedule of the {Georgia} railroad is to
be changed in a few days, so that the cars on the Athens Branch will
connect with the train which leaves Augusta at 2 o'clock in the after
noon and reach this place at 12 o'clock at night. We hope this will
not be done. We cannot perceive that it will benefit half a dozen of
our citizens, while we know it will injure all the rest. The practical
result of it will be to give us news from Augusta just 24 hours later
than at present. In these times or "wars and rumors of wars"
who wants such a detention? On the part of the citizens generally and
for the people of the up-country we protest mightily against this
change. |
