From the Southern Recorder (Milledgeville, Ga.) |

January 10, 1865 |

Gen. Beauregard has made a demand upon the
counties on the Georgia Railroad for 1000 negroes to repair the road
to Atlanta. He expects to complete the work in ninety days, or less
time. The cars are now running from Augusta to Madison {104
miles west of Augusta; Atlanta was 171 miles west}. |
The Milledgeville Railroad, we have reason
to believe, will be the next taken in hand. |
