Government Transportation -- A Good Move |
We were just in the midst of
preparing an article on the absolute importance of the Government
devising some system by which the transportation of necessaries to the
army might be remedied, when the following despatch from that Napoleon
of railroad managers, William M. Wadley, came to hand. We congratulate
the country, and especially our suffering troops, on the appointment. It
will save the life of many a brave soldier, secure comfort to thousands,
and contribute as much as any one thing to the triumph of our arms. |
We hope the railroad
authorities of the Confederate States will be punctual in meeting
General Wadley at the time specified in his despatch: |
