The Atlanta Gazette says that
an old man by the name of John Hill, from South Carolina, attempted
yesterday morning to get on the Western & Atlantic Railroad cars, while
in motion, and making a misstep, fell on the track, the train passing
over him, killing him instantly. It is said that he had started after a
son who was wounded in the battle of Chickamauga. A little on of Major
Orme was caught by a passing locomotive on the same day, the wheels of
which passed over his right leg, of course crushing it so as to render
amputation necessary. |
