From Pensacola and Vicinity |
The Greenville, (Ala.)
formerly the Pensacola Observer, of the 28th, has received some late
intelligence from Pensacola and vicinity. Up to Monday last the
breaking up of the road {the Alabama &
Florida (of Florida) RR} extended for about twenty-four miles
from Pensacola. Our troops on the road below are in good and
uncomplaining spirits in their toilsome labor of removing the heavy
iron, though there are many cases of measles and mumps among the new
companies -- no serious sickness, however, in that whole division of
the army. ***** Col. Tattnall, of Georgia, who has been assigned to
the 29th Alabama, is in command of that division of the army. In his
military ability, the entire army has the most unbounded confidence. |
