We clip the following
paragraphs from the Thomasville Wire Grass Reporter, of Saturday
{March 30}: |
The Railroad Has Come |
We take pleasure in announcing
that the contractor is now laying the iron of the Atlantic & Gulf
Railroad within the corporate limits of Thomasville. The cars are
expected to make regular trips from this place to Savannah early in next
month. |
The First Shipment of Cotton by the Main
Trunk |
On Thursday last there was
shipped the first cotton on this road from our town. The cotton was made
by our old friend Kindred Braswell, Esq., sixty-four bales in number
{2-3 car loads}, and purchased by Messrs.
Seward & McBain, consigned to Boston & Villalough, of Savannah. ***** |
