Accident on the Gulf Road
{Savannah, Albany & Gulf RR} |
We learn that two soldiers,
brothers named King, from Florida, were seriously injured yesterday on
the Gulf Railroad, between Nos. 13 and 14. It appears they had laid down
on the track and fell asleep, and when the train approached near them
the engineer made every effort to stop the onward progress of the
engine, but failing in his effort, the unfortunate men were both
severely injured -- one having both his legs cut off and the other had
one of his hands cut off. Both of the men were brought to the city by
the down train, and it is feared that the former cannot survive. We
could not learn to what regiment they belonged. |
