At a Special Meeting of
Council convened this day, ***** |
The Committee to ascertain the
prospect of getting prompt transportation for provisions brought to
distribute to the citizens of Savannah, respectfully report that
information has been received from the Superintendent of the Savannah,
Albany & Gulf Railroad Company that transportation will be furnished for
produce to be distributed to the citizens of Savannah without delay, and
on the same terms as Government freight. Application was also made to
the Central (of Georgia) Railroad for
information on the same subject, which has not been furnished, owing to
the absence of Geo. W. Adams, Esq. Superintendent. |
Your Committee entertain the opinion that there will be no
delay in getting transportation for such produce on the Central
Railroad. |
