We invite the attention of the
Superintendents and Agents of railroads and steamboats to the
proceedings of the City Council at its special meeting held last night.
The action of Council is highly proper and will, we have no doubt, be
concurred in by those who have control of the lines of transportation.
There is much and just complaint both on account of the scarcity and
rapidly advancing prices of provisions in the city. Some measures should
be at once adopted to increase our supplies and by preventing monopoly,
by speculators, to keep the means of subsistence within the reach of our
people. |
