The railroad bridge across the
Rappahannock was completed on Wednesday, and the locomotives "Hero,"
"Old Abe," and five others brought safely over to this side of the
river, together with a large quantity of rolling stock, iron, etc. Three
of the locomotives are in good order -- the others need repairs. The
unsuspecting people about Gordonsville were "sold" by the announcement
that "Old Abe" had arrived at the depot there, a prisoner. On proceeding
to view the illustrious Gorilla, they discovered that the captive was an
engine. |
