We take the following paragraphs
from the Augusta Constitutionalist of Saturday: |
Narrow Escape of the President |
We learn that several of the
cars containing soldiers, passing up the Georgia Railroad, on Thursday,
became detached from the balance of the train and stopped on the track.
The special train containing President Davis and his suite was behind,
and approached very near before the engineer was able to stop the train,
and thus avoid a collision. |
