Negroes Wanted! |
To Work on the Piedmont Railroad |
From Greensboro, N. C., to Danville,
Virginia |
|
The Confederate Government
having determined, as a military necessity, to build this road, the
undersigned being the contractors for building the same, can offer all
slave-owners peculiar advantages for the hiring of their negroes. The
road is located in one of the healthiest sections of the Southern
country, and at a remote and safe distance from the enemy. Good wages
in monthly payments and transportation is offered. We would be glad to
open correspondence with any parties having negroes to hire. Mr. C.
Bouknight, Treasurer of Charlotte Road {Charlotte
& South Carolina RR} , will forward all negroes.
Communications through Mr. H. K. Witherspoon, Columbia, S. C., will
reach us. For additional particulars, address us at Greensboro or
Charlotte, N. C., and Danville, Va. |
