| From Mississippi |
| Several gentlemen arrived in the
city last evening, direct from the seat of war in Mississippi, who
bring us rather gratifying intelligence from that State. |
| The Federal raiding parties
have all retired to their old lines, apparently satisfied with the
various punishment they at various time received. ***** The injury to
the Mississippi & Tennessee railroad has been repaired, and our
advantages previously enjoyed in obtaining supplies but slightly
decreased. On the Mississippi Central road, no destruction occurred;
on the contrary, we learn the transportation facilities have been
greatly increased. Daily communication by rail has been established to
a point greatly in advance of that previously reached. |
