Arrival of Cars |
Mr. Jones, Superintendent of
the Memphis & Ohio Railroad, is in Columbia, S. C., having brought on a
portion of the rolling stock of his road, which has been turned over to
the Charlotte road {Charlotte & South Carolina RR}.
The Richmond & Danville and Selma, Ala, roads
{Alabama & Mississippi Rivers RR} have likewise come in for a
share of the distribution. This addition will make the Charlotte one of
the best equipped roads in the Confederacy. We learn from Mr Jones that,
with the exception of two engines, left in Vicksburg by order of General
Pemberton, no engines or stock on the Memphis & Ohio road have been
destroyed since the fall of that city. |
