Danville Connection |
At a public meeting held in Charlotte, N.
C., on the 22d inst., a preamble and resolution were adopted
expressing great pleasure at the recommendation of President Davis in
regard to the building of a Railroad from Greensboro' to Danville, and
requesting their delegates to present an ordinance to the Convention,
to authorize the construction of the Road. |
By the way, a friend has suggested to us
that we were mistaken in our remark some days ago, in representing the
Road by the way of Leaksville to be twenty five miles out of the way.
Our object was to suggest the propriety of constructing the Road on
the most direct route at the earliest day, and not to express a
preference for any particular route. Our friend says that Leaksville
is not more than ten miles out of a direct line from the two points.
It must also be borne in mind that by going to Leaksville the coal
region will be penetrated by the Road. |
