At the meeting of the Stockholders of the
Chatham Rail Road Company held at Yarborough's Hotel on Wednesday
evening at 8 o'clock, Dr. Richard Haywood was called to the chair and
W. R. Richardson appointed Secretary. |
The Secretary reported 2610 shares
represented, and upon the vote being taken for President resulted as
follows: |

Mr. Battle receiving a majority of votes
was declared elected. The salary of the President was fixed at $1,500,
and that of the Treasurer at not exceeding $1,000, per annum. The
following gentlemen were appointed Directors: Geo. W. Mordecai, Dr, W.
J. Hawkins, J. E. Allen, S. S. Royster, and Elias Bryan. A resolution
was passed authorizing the President and Directors to call for two per
cent. of the subscription to be paid within thirty days. After
adoption of bye laws the meeting adjourned. |
