Another Raid |
We learn from passengers who reached here
yesterday afternoon from Weldon, that Lincoln's cavalry made another
raid on the Wilmington & Weldon Railroad Wednesday. This time they
dashed in at a point between Wilson and Goldsboro', and proceeded to
tear up the track, but becoming alarmed from some cause, desisted in a
few minutes after commencing operations, and fled precipitately. The
damage has been already repaired, and the road is now in running order
all the way through, the Tar River Bridge near Rocky Mount, having
been supplied by the temporary substitution of a pontoon. |
